This page explains, in plain English, the documentation that comes with research materials and how to use it. Results for individual batches appear only on the relevant certificate.
What is a certificate of analysis?
A certificate of analysis (CoA) is a document that records the test results for one specific batch of a material. It normally shows the product name, batch number, date of analysis, the methods used, the results, and the name of the testing laboratory.
A CoA belongs to a batch, not to a product in general. Two batches of the same compound can have two different certificates.

What the tests show
IDENTITY · MASS SPECTROMETRY
Is it what the label says?
Mass spectrometry measures the mass of the molecules in a sample. The measured mass is compared with the expected (theoretical) mass for that compound. A close match supports identity.
PURITY · HPLC
How much is the target compound?
HPLC separates the components of a sample and shows them as peaks on a chart. Purity is typically reported as the main peak’s share of the total peak area.
TRACEABILITY · BATCH NUMBER
Which run did it come from?
A batch number identifies a single production run. It links a vial to its test results and to our records, which makes any batch traceable.
How to match your vial to its certificate
STEP 01
Find it on the vial
Find the batch number on the vial label.
STEP 02
Find it on the certificate
Find the batch number on the certificate.
STEP 03
Compare
Check that the product name and batch number on both are identical. If they do not match, contact us before use, quoting the number on your vial.
Why sealed, labelled vials matter
A sealed vial shows that the contents have not been opened since packing. A clear label means the contents can be identified at the bench, months after delivery, without relying on memory or outer packaging. Together they support good record-keeping and traceability.
